01 — Patient Needs
The process begins by understanding the patient’s condition, mobility concerns, and bracing needs.
How the Bracing Process Works
Coranova helps coordinate the process from identifying the patient’s bracing needs through documentation, coverage review, and equipment fulfillment.

02 — Provider Documentation
The healthcare provider evaluates the patient and provides the appropriate clinical documentation and order when medically necessary.

03 — Coverage Review
Applicable insurance information and documentation are reviewed to determine whether coverage requirements are met.

04 — Fulfillment & Delivery
Once applicable requirements are completed, Coranova coordinates fulfillment and delivery of the prescribed brace.
Medicare Coverage for Orthopedic Braces
Medicare Part B may cover certain orthopedic braces as durable medical equipment when applicable coverage and medical-necessity requirements are met. Coverage depends on factors such as the patient’s condition, the brace prescribed, supporting medical documentation, and Medicare requirements. Coverage is not automatic. The medical record and order must support why the prescribed brace is medically necessary for the patient.
What May Be Required?
Coverage depends on the individual patient and the specific brace prescribed. Meeting general requirements does not guarantee Medicare coverage or payment.
Medical Necessity
The patient’s medical condition and need for the brace must meet applicable Medicare coverage criteria.
Healthcare Provider Order
An appropriate treating practitioner must order the brace and complete applicable Medicare ordering requirements.
Supporting Documentation
Medical records should support the patient’s condition, functional needs, and the medical necessity of the prescribed brace.
Medicare Supplier Requirements
The brace must be furnished in accordance with applicable Medicare supplier and coverage requirements.
